I Erode, the second album from Bay Area death/thrash quartet LACERATION, is now streaming in its incinerating entirety ahead of its official worldwide release through 20 Buck Spin this Friday.
After the scorching Demise LP in 2021, LACERATION’s I Erode showcases years of work and subtle refinement manifested in the band’s most assured and vicious material to date. Absolutely loaded with hallmarks of US death metal’s peak era, I Erode vehemently explodes out of the gate with merciless riffs, savage tempos, tastefully fleshripping solos, and the malevolent undercurrents of aggressive death thrash perfection. Striking an ideal balance of technical and straightforward, high-speed and mid-paced breaks, and a concise, to the point attack packed with variety, I Erode offers a purely addictive shot of real death metal adrenaline in a lineage that includes Demolition Hammer to Morgoth to Suffocation.
While perhaps invoking a sense of nostalgia, the fact is, LACERATION’s evolved confidence and commitment to a song’s unsparing execution erases any focus on era on I Erode. The dedication to death metal’s timelessness and high standards for true acknowledgment marks LACERATION’s output now more than ever.
Recorded at Dark Corners Studios by Matt Harvey of Exhumed and Gruesome, mixed and mastered by Greg Wilkinson at Earhammer Studios (Undergang, Vastum, Ulthar, High On Fire), and completed with artwork by James Bousema (Frozen Soul, Kerry King, Celestial Sanctuary, Morgul Blade), photography by Bill Batchalor, and layout by Dan Fried, LACERATION’s I Erode is a crucial listen for fans of Malevolent Creation, Dawn Of Possession-era Immolation, Devastation, Monstrosity, Morbid Angel, Asphyx, Pestilence, Demolition Hammer, Skeletal Remains, Morgoth, and Master.
LACERATION states, “We are thrilled to unfurl to you our sophomore release! We Poured a lot of energy into its composition and let it be stamped as a clear statement that we will continue to go for the throat sonically with intrinsic brutality. Swallowed by time, souls are forgotten. Seeds of the arcane now awaken to engulf mankind, as I erode.”

“I Erode is a dazzling display of classic death metal splashed with modern blood, and LACERATION waste no time making their statement on this devastating second record. It’s properly brutal, but it’s also a fascinating listen as they explode with musical prowess and tenacity that goes beyond simple skullduggery.” – Meat Mead Metal
“… LACERATION’s I Erode is a record that holds little back and is surprisingly swift in its runtime. Though the band beat us over the head with a crushing soundscape, and riffs that are always on the cusp of developing into something new, the record doesn’t overstay its welcome.” – The Razor’s Edge
“Granted, I went into this album setting LACERATION as one of my favorite death metal bands these last several years to start… but a focused escalation of this order only intensifies that double thumbs up from me. They’ve amped up every aspect of their craft to be sure but what I’ll walk away from this record admiring most is knowing when to tie it off and leave as succinct and high-damage record as possible. A very high recommendation.” – Mystification Zine
