HERAKLEION will be touring in support of their critically lauded Necroverse EP, released independently in September.
Necroverse spews forth five tracks of living, seething death thrash that serves as the listener’s vessel from the world of mortality into the realm of the dead. Songs focus on the morbid curiosity that humanity has with the afterlife. Each track touches on a different instance that attempts to rationalize that moment where life ceases and the journey through the realm of death begins.
An entirely analog production overseen by producer Pete deBoer (Blood Incantation, Devil Master, Spectral Voice), Necroverse was tracked live at Sonic Ranch Studios in Tornillo, Texas. The recording was done on an API Legacy Plus, a Studer 24-track tape machine, and a full complement of analog outboard gear. Notes drummer Speed Wilson, “The goal was to make a recording that sounds closer to what’s in our record collections, than to what records sound like now.”
HERAKLEION’s Necroverse EP, which features cover art by Noah Meihoff, is available on CD, LP, cassette, and digital formats. Find orders at the HERAKLEION webshop HERE or Bandcamp HERE.

HERAKLEION – named after an ancient Egyptian city that was thought to be a myth but was actually discovered underwater in 2000 – was forged in 2020 when drummer Speed Wilson, met guitarist/vocalist Apollo Xydias. Bassist Christian Woerner rounded out the lineup in April of the following year. Influenced by the likes of Morbid Angel, Pestilence, and Voïvod, the band spent the Summer writing and tracked what was intended to be their first demo. Duane Simoneaux (Crowbar, Down, Exhorder, Eye AM) of OCD Recording And Production was brought in to mix and master those tracks, which saw release as the band’s debut EP, Curse Of Eternity, in February 2022. Since that time, HERAKLEION has been booking itself across the Southeast US to promote their debut, including a handful of small tours with Goatwhore, Skeletal Remains, and more.
“This release offers a raw, unfiltered slab of metal that defies modern conventions, embracing the analog spirit of the past.” – Decibel Magazine
“…Necroverse has the sort of menacing energy you’d expect from death metal bands of old. It’s that all-encompassing feeling that they’re set and comfortable with what they are and they give zero fucks if you agree with their methods. Either you’re on board or you’re not… From the menacing riffage in ‘What Is, Was, And Will Forever Be’ to the almost Chuck Schuldiner-esque playing in ‘Blood Of Nessus,’ it’s incredibly apparent that these guys are disciples of the greats. If you’re a long-time death metal fan and want to find out what the future of the genre sounds like, then sit your ass down, hit play, and let Necroverse wash over you like an unyielding torrent.” – MetalSucks
“…Necroverse sounds like a band of fellows who know what they’re doing, presenting a serious enough and tightly performed vision of death-thrash metal in 2024… a band to watch not only for their classics-minded approach to style but for the smart curation (incl. insane Noah Meihoff cover art) of their whole gig thus far. A high recommendation.” – Mystification ‘ Zine
“…a brilliant display of gritty, punishing classic death thrash, but it is also so much more than that. Old school to the core, HERAKLEION delivers their form of the genre in a way that is as authentic as it gets.” – Nine Circles
“…a raw, unapologetic take on humanity’s morbid curiosity about the moment of crossing over. If you’re tired of the usual trends, dive into this out-of-step, thought-provoking sonic assault.” – Brutally Delicious
