Back in January, the good-humored folks at MetalSucks launched the official Viking Beard Contest. Not just a catchy title, the competition was inspired by the magnificent mane of AMON AMARTH vocalist Johan Hegg and required entrants to send “before” and “after” photos of their hair growth — beards for the boys; armpits and leg hair for the girls (or privates for the more adventurous ladies). Hegg was then asked to choose the winners… One male and female grand prize winner (who get a kick ass AMON AMARTH package of goodies including a lock from Hegg’s mighty beard) and one male and female runner up.
Fans from around the country went unshaven for nearly three months for a Norse-inspired cause and the winners have since been chosen.
