Ring in your week with a cathartic slow-motion kick to the jugular courtesy of industry web-portal Metal Insider and their exclusive track premiere of “The Well” from West Coast metal goliaths ARMED FOR APOCALYPSE. Oozing with tar-thick, sludge-centric enormity and southern-tinged harmonies, the tune appears on the band’s forthcoming The Road Will End full-length.
Comments team AFA in a collective statement: “‘The Well’ is a giant, slobbering beast of a track and we are excited to set it free and watch it destroy everything in its path. The riffs are so filthy they are NSFW.”

Featuring ten tracks of pure, soul-surging urgency, The Road Will End is a complex study in heaviness. No triggers, no wanky “shredding,” no posturing, no cowardice, no frills. Set for release in North America via Ironclad Recordings on July 23, 2013, The Road Will End was recorded with Chris Keene at Cutters Cathedral in Chico, California. All drums were tracked with Matt Pedri at Old Sailor Studios (also in Chico). Check out the official lyric video for “The Starting Line Is A Trip Wire” at THIS LOCATION.

“Hardcore forcefulness, pit-rousing groove, Helmet worship, and d-beat swagger put the meat on the bones of the living breathing weapon that makes up one of the flat out heaviest records of the year. As angry as the band sounds, the spirit of battle and perseverance resonate from the immensely powerful sludge of AforA.” — Scratch the Surface
“Possibly the outright most aggressive and just plain overwhelmingly pig-headedly heavy release of the year. It has one setting, and that setting is DESTROY.” – Sludgelord
“It’s fast, it’s slow, it’s melodic but it’s never ever not absolutely bloody furious. There’s something utterly orgasmic about guitars churning away in a ludicrously low drop G tuning. You’ll be humming some of this stuff for days to come, it’s that good.” – Thrash Hits
“There is simply so much for me to love about ARMED FOR APOCALYPSE‘s output, starting from their fat guitar sound, their chugging sludgy riffs that thrust forward in a ‘take no prisoners’ mentality which you simply can’t stay indifferent to, good song progression, brutally heavy groove, a variety of musical influences and a vocalist that dominates a wide range of extreme vocal styles. If I have to categorize their music I’d say it’s a crossover between sludge and hardcore…fans of bands such as Burst and Mammoth Grinder are in for a treat.” – Metal Temple
