NPR has released the latest single from Texas-based DEAD TO A DYING WORLD and their upcoming sophomore 2xLP, Litany, with an exclusive premiere of the album opening “The Hunt Eternal,” which sees the apocalyptic septet joined by members of Pallbearer and Sabbath Assembly providing guest vocals to the track.
Texas-based DEAD TO A DYING WORLD has created an album of monstrous proportions with the long-awaited follow-up to their 2011 self-titled debut album, as Litany delivers over an hour and thirteen minutes of apocalyptic metal through six massive tracks which thrive somewhere between doom, blackened crust, and dark post-rock. Litany was recorded at The Echo Lab, produced, engineered, and mixed by Billy Anderson with additional engineering by Matt Pence and Justin Collins, pre-production by Chris Williams at Tidepool Studios, with mastering duties handled by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The album’s artwork was handled by Sera Timms and the layout and design by Kevin Gan Yuen.
The seven-member lineup includes vocalists Heidi Moore and Mike Yeager, viola player Eva Vonne, guitarists Sean Mehl and Gregg Prickett, James Magruder on bass, multiple types of guitars and piano, and Cyrus Meyers on drums, concert bass, and orchestra bells. Also invited into the collaborative fold for guest appearances on this album are some of the creative minds behind Pallbearer, Sabbath Assembly, and Pinkish Black, whose contributions bring the entrancing narrative within Litany an unapologetic authenticity. The band’s sound reaches brilliant new heights on Litany; the record is a statement, a mantra, an epilogue, yet it gives just a hint to the musical manuscript underwritten by DEAD TO A DYING WORLD.
National Public Radio is now playing “The Hunt Eternal” which has guest vocals from Brett Campbell of Pallbearer and Jamie Myers-Waits of Sabbath Assembly, both of whom provide guest vocals to the track. Litany will be presented in multiple formats, the digital and gatefold CD on October 16th, and a deluxe 2xLP shortly afterward. Gilead Media will handle the CD release, and combine forces with Alerta Antifascista Records and Tofu Carnage Records for the 2xLP release. This album is for those who truly appreciate the aesthetic value of deluxe packaging and heavyweight color vinyl, pressed on 200-gram vinyl with both Gold with Black Splatter and Black pressings for North America and Gold inside Milky Clear with Bone Splatter and Black pressings for Europe, and features heavyweight spot-varnish printed jackets with foil-embossed graphics.

Additional dates to DEAD TO A DYING WORLD‘s Western US October tour in support of Litany have been announced, the trek including the band’s return to Southwest Terror Fest in Tucson, Arizona, the band set to play on Thursday, October 15th with Thou & The Body, In The Company Of Serpents, Heat Dust, Gale, Abstracter, Hanta and Methra. A European tour is also being booked, with shows running through most of April, with several festival appearances included in the run. Further details will be released shortly.
