Denver-based progressive doom conjurors DREADNOUGHT recently unveiled a brand new track via Metal Swim 2, the second volume of Adult Swim’s Metal Swim compilation series. Titled “It Took The Flood,” the haunting track appears alongside new tunes from Author & Punisher, Baroness, Dark Castle, Sunn O))), The Body, Eyehategod and more.
Issued of the band of the latest hymn, “‘It Took The Flood’ is our conceptual transition from [forthcoming full-length] Emergence, into our next album, in which a sea of ash is met by flood rain, and in its bareness, reveals the steady ground for which to rebuild.”

DREADNOUGHT will release Emergence worldwide on May 10th via Profound Lore. The band’s fourth long player takes their signature multiplex and pictorial sound to new sonic realms delving more into heavier and darker sonic territory. WritesHeavy Blog Is Heavy in an advance investigation of the record, “Like all releases before it, Emergence is a beast of its own design but intimately and firstly DREADNOUGHT. Their sound, in whatever permutation, is unmistakable. In this, its current, somber, sonorous, deep, rumbling iteration, it is more of a gut punch than on any previous release,” adding, “it has a depth of emotional expression… a desire to explore silences and moments at the edge of silence, where only the low rumble of the bass is heard, which intensely compliments the band’s existing sound. These depths make the heights even more pronounced and impactful, setting the heart ablaze with freedom, with a yearning to break free out of a sobriety and melancholy that is still, and always, at life’s core.”
Sample previous-released Emergence singles “Tempered” and “Besieged” below.
Engineered and mixed by Andy Patterson (Subrosa) and mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate), with art and design by Mark Facey, Emergence will be released on CD, LP, and digital formats via Profound Lore. For physical preorder options go to the Profound Lore Store at THIS LOCATION. For digital, visit the label’s Bandcamp page HERE.
