Toilet Ov Hell is currently streaming Festering Grotesqueries, the debut full-length from Portland-based old-school death metal group DRIPPING DECAY. The premiere comes on the eve of the record’s official release, Friday, August 18th via Satanik Royalty Records.

Originally founded by guitarist Neil Smith (Lord Gore, Frightmare, Blood Freak) in 2019, DRIPPING DECAY’s solid, hellish sounds were later rounded out by vocalist Eric Stucke (Hallucinator), bassist Jackson Jordan (Conducting From The Grave), and drummer Jason Borton (Jungle Rot). All of the band members have been devout fans of death metal and grindcore for decades and take their influence from bands like Repulsion, Terrorizer, Napalm Death, and Carcass. Take that blueprint and combine it with fast tempos, technical precision, and a licentious adoration of ’80s Italian B-horror films, and you have a recipe for the fantastically repugnant makings of DRIPPING DECAY, making them stand in a class of their own amidst a sea of kids copy and pasting Entombed and Incantation riffs into oblivion.

Writes Toilet Ov Hell in part of Festering Grotesqueries, “I know they say don’t judge a book by its cover, but in this case it’s a safe bet. Festering Grotesqueries is every bit as gore-soaked and abrasive as you might expect. Try not to gag while looking at the album art, then press play to enjoy the auditory assault you didn’t know you needed.”

Festering Grotesqueries was recorded at Falcon Studios in Portland, Oregon with engineer Derek Leisy (Vitriol), mixed by Vincent Detto (Cerebral Rot, Mortiferum), and mastered by Dan Lowndes, who also mastered the 2021 demo, Watching You Rot. Festering Grotesqueries’ album artwork sees the return of their fashionably putrefied mascot, Drippy — a creation of artist Toni K. Hietomaa, whose brilliantly sickening visions also graced the cover of Watching You Rot.

The album will be released via Satanik Royalty Records on all streaming services as well as CD, cassette, and vinyl in black, toxic green, and pink/orange marble variants.

“From deep within the Pacific Northwest, Maniac Neil rises once again! Otherwise known as the mind behind Frightmare, Blood Freak, and many other highly quality death/grind bands, Neil’s new band DRIPPING DECAY‘s more traditional, riff-inspired brick shithouse of a debut album Festering Grotesqueries’ putrid and bloated mix of death metal and grindcore is a solid reminder that The Maniac‘s mastery is something to truly behold.” – Decibel Magazine

“Festering Grotesqueries is one helluva fun, disgusting platter of bodily fluid splatter and there’s a lot to like about what DRIPPING DECAY pull off on their rollicking, rumbling debut.” – Angry Metal Guy

DRIPPING DECAY are to modern metal what practical effects were to 1980s VHS horror aberrations. Read: old school, hands-on, physically revolting, and tangible death metal. Old school is usually static in how it operates, but not here. Each track brings with it a new pustule to ooze into the ears, a new vessel into which one shall wretch. Fast, vibrantly disgusting, all of the splattering trash we enjoy around here.” – Deaf Sparrow
