BrooklynVegan is currently hosting a premiere of “Pacto Mortal,” the latest video from hardcore punk practitioners FRECUENCIA DE MUERTE. The track comes by way of the band’s Death Frequency full-length, recently issued via Armageddon Label.
Forged in late 2017 in Portland, Oregon, FRECUENCIA DE MUERTE (AKA FDeM) currently features vocalist Eduardo Agostocrates (Terokal), bassist Jeff Carlisle (Aütocracy), guitarist/production mastermind Brad Boatright (From Ashes Rise), and drummer Ian Makau (Lowered, Dödläge). The band released one four-song seven-inch featuring Manny of Peligro Social on second guitar in 2018 before composing Death Frequency just a few months later. Recorded and mixed by Derek Leisy at Falcon Recording Studio (Poison Idea, Final Warning, Wehrmacht) and Audiosiege and mastered by Boatright at Audiosiege (Poison Idea, Converge, Disrupt, Pentagram) with , Death Frequecny spews forth seven psalms of ravenous hardcore punk performed by four hardcore punk lifers with lyrics in Spanish. As a bonus, Jerry A. of Poison Idea supplies backing vocals on “F. ‘Em.”
Writes BrooklynVegan, “We’re premiering the video for the D-beating ripper ‘Pacto Mortal,’ which comprises grainy footage of the band performing and of unrest in the streets, with clips of fires, police force, and more.”

“Comprised of four longtime veterans of the scene, the band takes a raw and dirty approach to their sound akin to Poison Idea and Negative Approach, with perhaps a touch of Antidote, Zeke, Skitsystem, and Driller Killer. The band combines their passion for the classic hardcore punk with a talent for great riffs, solos, harsh vocals and a no-nonsense rhythm section.” – Decibel
“I thought of it as a hardcore punk anthem, with a compulsive bass-and-drum tandem at work and a mix of dark and fiery riffs that hammer and slash their way into the head in equally compulsive fashion. The raw, braying vocals, the flickering melodic motif that surfaces and re-surfaces, and the bleak yet increasingly glorious solo that drives the song to its riotous finale seal the deal – this is a terrific song.” – No Clean Singing on “No Habrá Paz”
“Fans of Los Crudos, Riesgo, and Vaaska will love the explosive-sounding Latino punk, and FDeM‘s stampeding songs will definitely entice devotees of From Ashes Rise, Tragedy, Warcry and similarly hulking hardcore bands. There’s an undeniable echo of authenticity swirling around Death Frequency, with FDeM exhibiting a diehard commitment to delivering uncompromising punk rock… FDeM have an inexhaustible supply of rabid anger and riotous energy running through their veins. (Not to mention a bite force that’s off the fucking scale.) Death Frequency is an essential purchase.” – Last Rites
