From amidst the forests just north of New York City, the cult of GRIDFAILURE continues to spew its discordant brew of off-kilter experimental terror with the release of I Shall Not Survive Another Winter this Friday for the Autumnal Equinox. No Echo is now streaming the whole recording early alongside a short interview.
Each song on I Shall Not Survive Another Winter grows longer than the one preceding it, the record further exploring full-on post-apocalyptic dementia; a vision of Post-Sixth Mass-Extinction Skullduggery which is the concept of the upcoming Teeth Collection and Drought Stick albums and several surrounding mini-releases portraying a grim vision of humanity’s future. A nearby reality where those who have survived mankind’s override by artificial intelligence, the ecological rebellion of our planet, and thermonuclear warfare amidst our own kind strive to rebuild society, and are continually thwarted. Thriving only amidst the gutters and back-alleys of a scorched culture, GRIDFAILURE‘s sound reflects this impending cross-contamination of horrors.
No Echo is streaming I Shall Not Survive Another Winter early, paired with a brief inquisition with the creator, warning listeners, “After soaking in GRIDFAILURE‘s new I Shall Not Survive Another Winter EP for about a week now, I’m still having trouble finding the perfect way to articulate what I’m hearing. What I can tell you is that it’s the kind of nightmarish soundscape that is better taken in via headphones. There’s a lot of layering on the EP’s eight tracks, and that doesn’t just include traditional instruments.”

I Shall Not Survive Another Winter will see digital release via Bandcamp on the Autumnal Equinox, this Friday, September 22nd; preorder the digital version RIGHT HERE. A physical version will follow.
I Shall Not Survive Another Winter sees GRIDFAILURE creator David Brenner delivering effects-soaked guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards, synth, harmonica, field recordings, drums and percussion, and more, as well as handling all production and artwork. Several henchpersons tightly embedded in the faction supply a diverse range of instrumentation throughout the release, including BJ Allen (Full Scale Riot), Richard Muller (Vise Massacre, The Third Kind, Future Hunter), Benjamin Levitt (Megalophobe), Robert Levitt, Christian Molenaar (Those Darn Gnomes), and Mark Steuer (Those Darn Gnomes).
Watch for the new GRIDFAILURE track “Vultures Amassing Through The Night” appearing on the upcoming free Halloween-themed digital compilation, Razor Blades & Chocolate, curated by Svbterranean.net, in mid-October. That is to be followed by the first installment of GRIDFAILURE‘s new When The Lights Go Out series on Halloween.
Apart from the slew of titles released within the year-and-a-half of GRIDFAILURE‘s existence, two conceptual albums — Teeth Collection and Drought Stick — have been under construction the entire time, formulated on their alchemist’s most primal, primitive, and rudimentary instincts, yet slowly morphing awaiting completion as the sound of the unit explores new realms.
