As Copenhagen-based HALSHUG prepares their second LP Sort Sind for release through Southern Lord in September, the band liberates the first single from the record with a premiere at Cvlt Nation, while simultaneously announcing their first East Coast live dates.
HALSHUG‘s Sort Sind delivers nine ripping new tracks, the album’s title translating to “black mind.” A brutal rock record, Sort Sind bears hints of motorcycle-fueled d-beat while still retaining the raw punk that made the sound on their Blodets Bånd debut so potent, the songs showing an even more destructive and elevated approach to their songwriting. Recorded live, produced and mixed at Ballade Studios by Lasse Ballade, who also produced and mixed Blodets Bånd, the Sort Sind LP was mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege. The album’s theme is based on the members’ feelings and experiences inspired by growing up in the 1990s and 2000s in neglected parts of Denmark. The intention with the album is to make good hardcore punk music that people can get off too; to contribute to their scene and evoke some energy in those who hear it.
“Udskud” is the third raging anthem harnessed on Sort Sind, a track that perfectly introduces the listener to the tumult and unrest HALSHUG has captured on their second album. Cvlt Nation deploys the new track well ahead of the album’s release, noting, “With this record, they wanted to create an all-out hardcore punk onslaught, and I think they have hit the mark. HALSHUG is the kind of band that plugs everything they do into a HUGE electric outlet of urgency so that they can shock the listener with each listen.”

Southern Lord will issue HALSHUG‘s Sort Sind on CD, LP, and digital platforms on September 30th. Preorders and additional audio samples will be unveiled in the weeks preceding its release.
Beginning their recent set at this year’s massive Roskilde Festival, HALSHUG is already infiltrating the masses with the material from Sort Sind, and the band now announces their very first shows in North America with a short East Coast US run in two weeks. HALSHUG will cross the Atlantic for three shows in Brooklyn, Washington DC, and Pittsburgh August 17th,18th, and 21st, respectively. Further tour dates including more inundating tours of Europe and a more substantial North American trek are in the works as well.
