KINGS DESTROY: NYC Stoner/Doom Rock Dealers Unveil “Mr. O” Via MetalSucks; Digital Preorders Available

New York City’s favorite stoner/doom rock dealers, KINGS DESTROY — who feature within their ranks guitarists Carl Porcaro and Chris Skowronski from Killing Time, vocalist Steve Murphy from Uppercut, drummer Rob Sefcik formerly of The Begotten, Uppercut, Fur and Electric Frankenstein and bassist Aaron Bumpus — reveal another new hymn from their impending new self-titled full-length set for release via War Crime Recordings this May.

The follow-up to last year’s lauded A Time Of Hunting long player was produced and mixed by Sanford Parker (Twilight, Voivod, Eyehategod, Yob etc.) at Studio G in Brooklyn, New York mastered by Collin Jordan (Eyehategod, Indian, Wovenhand, Voivod etc.) at The Boiler Room in Chicago, Illinois, and boasts seven, soulful, lead-footed rock hymns. With their third album in four years, KINGS DESTROY leaves their hardcore-laden stamp on noise rock and doom. After sharing stages with Pentagram, Winter, Saint Vitus, Church of Misery, Yob, Pallbearer, Vista Chino, Orange Goblin, Trouble, Acid King, Corrosion Of Conformity and so many others, the five-piece stands tall with their defining statement.

Today’s latest Kings Destroy teaser comes in the form of Big Apple-centric second track, “Mr. O.” Elaborates Porcaro, “Anyone of a certain age range that grew up in New York can never forget that year when our young brainwaves were dominated by 44. There was Number 44, Mister October, [Yankees right-fielder, Reggie Jackson] who rode into town with his name already in lights, but who everybody was secretly gunning for. Then there was the .44 caliber killer [David Berkowitz AKA the Son Of Sam] who rode into our lives under cover of darkness, quite openly gunning for everybody and becoming the second most famous man in the city. Right behind Mr. October. This is the fastest song we’ve ever written and we dig on playing it live!”

“Mr. O” is currently razing the airways of MetalSucks who offers, “The band’s forthcoming self-titled album… sounds like it came from that era, when New York was a grimy and dangerous place, walls with spray-painted tags and art outnumbered clean ones, and the brightest colors anyone wore were shit brown and navy blue. KINGS DESTROY are considered a stoner/doom band, but as demonstrated by the painfully infectious track ‘Mr. O,’ there’s just enough of a punk influence that it’s easy to imagine them playing at CBGB’s, too.”

KINGS DESTROY gets its moniker from an infamous graffiti gang from the Bronx circa late ’70s/early ’80s. The band members met in this vicinity and were heavily involved in the New York Hardcore scene of the late ’80s that merged hardcore music, metal, graffiti and hip hop…all distinct forms united in the underground. Applauded for summoning “…Sabbath’s grooves, Sleep’s foggy haze, and Yob’s oppressive thunder,” by The Village Voice, KING DESTROY‘s distinct sonic brew is both crushing and cathartic.

Kings Destroy will be released on LP, CD and digitally on May 5th, 2015 via War Crime Recordings. CD preorders are currently available HERE. For vinyl preorders go HERE. Digital preorders are also available today. Order via Amazon HERE or iTunes HERE and receive an immediate download of “Mr. O.”
