An effort initiated by David Brenner (Gridfailure, The Earsplit Compound) and David Rodgers (Godhunter, Battleground Records), Soft Tissue is a collaborative album conceived by brooding Oakland-based “larva rock” project LAMENT CITYSCAPE, and New York “blackened synth-death” act THEOLOGIAN, compositing industrial degeneracy and post-metal heft to create a thoroughly oppressive, and immersive, sonic experience. Soft Tissue was produced and mixed by Mike McClatchey at Underland Studios, with supplemental production by Lee Bartow at Abandon All Hope, and mastered by James Plotkin. Drawing comparisons to everything from Nine Inch Nails and Rob Zombie to Neurosis, Soft Tissue is very likely to appeal to a broad range of heavy music fans.
Recorded between Autumn 2015 and Spring 2016, Soft Tissue is a towering portent of calamities awaiting humanity, while obsessively examining the fragility not just of our bodies, but of the subjective moralities which define our civilization. Spearheaded by producers Mike McClatchey of LAMENT CITYSCAPE and THEOLOGIAN‘s Lee Bartow, and featuring input from past and present members of each project, Soft Tissue is underscored by a seamless integration of the best qualities of both groups. Bowel-wracking percussive attacks, brutally heavy riffs, and boundless drones are juxtaposed with guttural, apocalyptic, howls from the deepest abysses of psychological anguish.
Soft Tissue is available for purchase via Battleground Records HERE, Annihilvs Power Electronics/THEOLOGIAN HERE, LAMENT CITYSCAPE HERE, and Earsplit Distro HERE.
