For the past three weeks, directly in the wake of releasing This Mortal Road through Battleground Records and Dullest Records at the beginning of March, ROZAMOV has been delivering the LP’s psychedelia-strewn monolithic doom to audiences across the country, with the last show taking place tonight in Canton, Ohio. The band checks in from the road about the new video: “We knew that we wanted to do a video for a song off This Mortal Road. We were also all pretty busy with life so we asked our bud Steve from Sea if he had any cool ideas he wanted to shoot. And the rest is history. We are really grateful to be surrounded by a collective of stellar artists in our scene. We work with friends whenever given the opportunity and this video for ‘Serpent Cult’ is no different. Hope you enjoy.”
ROZAMOV‘s This Mortal Road is out now on vinyl through Battleground Records, on CD and cassette through Dullest Records, and digitally through the band. Digital orders can be placed HERE, and physical orders a live at Battleground Records HERE and Dullest Records HERE.
Recorded and mixed by Jon Taft at New Alliance Audio, and mastered by Nick Z at New Alliance East Mastering, the five monolithic passages on This Mortal Road deliver over forty minutes of textured, melody-laced, doom metal, infusing a wide array of both devastating and entrancing elements, the album a must-hear for fans of Yob, Electric Wizard, Ufomammut, Pallbearer, Graves At Sea, and similar acts.
Decibel Magazine’s review includes, “Their debut full-length represents a great leap forward in terms of depth and personality for ROZAMOV – and a comparable leap downward in tempo… easily the darkest in the band’s six-plus years of existence.” The Obelisk’s praise of the album is summed up in its closing remarks, “it took a while for the band to realize This Mortal Road, but This Mortal Road seems to be all the more realized for that, and as their debut, it strikes with deceptive efficiency and poise. Is it possible for something so harsh to be progressive? One gets the sense that as ROZAMOV continue forward, they’re setting themselves up to pursue an answer.”
Two Guys Metal Reviews praises, “This Mortal Road is an album that deals in ethereal magic and epic compositions. ROZAMOV is the sort of band that goes far beyond what most of their peers might consider adequate and instead pushes for transcendence. ROZAMOV have put their collective noses to the grindstone to create what may be their most ambitious work to date.” Outlaws Of The Sun boasts, “ROZAMOV appear as a more confident and world-weary unit with their debut album offering bleak sludge/stoner atmospherics… This Mortal Road is a superbly produced album and one that shows ROZAMOV offer something different to their more famous and established peers. A truly captivating and heavy as hell record.
