As Bethlehem, Pennsylvania hardcore sludge/grind trio SECRET CUTTER‘s second album, Quantum Eraser nears early July release, the outfit deploys a new track from the record through a Cvlt Nation premiere of “Doormat.”
SECRET CUTTER‘s 2014 debut LP, Self Titled, was critically acclaimed for its eclectic songwriting and heaviness. Now, after a nearly four-year wait, the band returns with the decimating Quantum Eraser. A feedback-laden mindfuck, boiling with intensity, the eleven tracks on Quantum Eraser deliver an immeasurable seismic attack delivered with by-the-throat conviction. The album was recorded by drummer Jared Stimpfl at Captured Recordings Studio (Jesus Piece, Ultra Mantis Black), mastered by Brad Boatright at Audiosiege (Integrity, Obituary), and completed with cover art by Thomas Hooper (Neurosis, Converge).
SECRET CUTTER discloses, “When we are asked what genre of music we play we never know how to answer. People have referred to us as a grind band even though most of our material is slower paced. If we have any song that could be considered grindcore, ‘Doormat’ would be it. We felt this was nice progression from some of the grind stuff we have done in the past. Mixing speed with heavy riffing that defines our slower sludge metalish style.”
