SKELETONWITCH: New Album Serpents Unleashed Streaming Via Pitchfork; Limited-Edition “Bootleg Vinyl” Available

Ohio’s SKELETONWITCH celebrate ten solid years of blackened thrash metal with latest full-length, Serpents Unleashed. Commended by Outburn for its “pure, unapologetic heavy metal,” and hailed by Decibel as the band’s “best effort to date,” Serpents Unleashed is currently streaming in its entirety via Pitchfork.com.

Unleash the serpents at THIS LOCATION!

Serpents Unleashed was recorded earlier this year at GodCity Studio in Salem, Massachusetts with Kurt Ballou (Trap Them, High On Fire, Converge), features artwork by John Baizley (Baroness, Kylesa, Kvelertak), and will be released in North America across all platforms (CD/MP3/LP/cassette) next Tuesday, October 29th via Prosthetic Records. If you can’t wait that long, an extremely limited amount of hand-numbered “bootleg vinyl” copies are now available at select independent record stores across the country. Check recordstoreday.com/Venues for participating shops!

In other SKELETONWITCH news, vocalist Chance Garnette was recently featured on the MetalSucks Podcast, where he spoke to hosts Chuck and Godless about the band’s early days, how far they’ve come over the last decade, favorite tours and the Serpents Unleashed writing process. Listen to the podcast, followed by a stream of the title track HERE.

SKELETONWITCH will play an album release party at The Union in Athens, Ohio — the location of their first-ever public concert — tomorrow (October 23rd) before beginning an extensive North American takeover with The Black Dahlia Murder. The band will take a short break then join forces with Amon Amarth and Enslaved for an early-2014 US tour. All upcoming tour dates are listed below.

“All of the incredible essential elements of SKELETONWITCH are present: mad-gallop rabid-horse guitars? Check. 1920s madman submachine gun drumming? Check. Chance Garnette’s bug-eyed, leather-larynx, rock-gargling vocals? Triple check. Stop-on-a-dime time-signature change-ups? You know it. God bless these maniacs – they’ve done it again.” – eMusic

“…the defining moment for the band, the most assured record in their catalog…” – No Clean Singing

“Serpents Unleashed is another great dose of blackened thrash with a hint of old-school metal energy…” – Lambgoat

“…irrefutable proof that SKELETONWITCH is the kind of band that we can trust even with our eyes closed… their best record to date.” – Ghost Cult

“The solid production, tightened instrumentals, and effective songwriting are the elements that elevate this opus to one of the top albums of 2013.” – Metalholic

“…the band is more evil than ever and have returned with a creative, inspired, brutal and soul crushingly evil vengeance. Should you still be worshiping The Witch? Two words… fuck yes.” – Volumes of Sin

“…vicious, chaotic, fun, and ultimately a thrashing time for those involved… one of the year’s best…” – Metal Observer
