Southern California’s rogue faction THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD returns to the high seas this Winter to pillage your village with their fifth dose of their signature heavy mahogany sound, Rust & Glory. Confirming the album for March release, the crew today unveils its cover art, track listing, preorders, and “Lawful Evil” single.

Formed in 2008, THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD – Wolfbeard O’Brady, Stark Cordwain, Deckard Cordwain, and Pistol(s) Pete – is hastily becoming one of the biggest independent folk metal acts in the world. Armed exclusively with acoustic instruments, these pirates infuse the raw energy of heavy metal with Celtic and European folk music to tell tales of comrades lost, bloody sieges, drunken debauchery, and all manner of villainous misadventures. They’ve delivered their music to dancing, moshing, drinking, and partying land lubbers across North America, the British Isles, and Western Europe, accumulating a commendable cult following in metal and folk music communities alike.

The new album Rust & Glory is a thirteen-song treasure-trove of all-acoustic, piratical, folk metal rippers which present a finely honed sound and creative voice that is truly unlike anything else in the metal scene today. From anthems like “Lawful Evil” and “Leather Ship” to drinking songs like “Give Me Your Beer” and “Corpse Juice Medley,” the album is sure to get heads banging, feet stomping, and audiences singing across the globe.

Recorded at Seahorse Sound Studios in Los Angeles, THE DREAD CREW OF ODDWOOD enlisted the help of fellow folk metal musician Anna Murphy (Cellar Darling, ex-Eluveitie) who engineered, produced, and mixed the record, her input and expertise helping push Rust & Glory forward as the finest collection of songs the band has created to date. Several guests joined the party, with double bass by Bass Princess, hurdy gurdy by Anna Murphy, and additional vocals by Anna Murphy and Madison Lowery. Mastering duties were again handled by Svante Forsbäck (Rammstein, Korpiklaani, Ensiferum), and artist Mark Gibbons (Blizzard Entertainment, Games Workshop, Rookery Publications) delivered another stunning cover painting.

With the maiden single from Rust & Glory, “Lawful Evil,” the crew declares, “ODDWOOD has thrust our way back to the surface of the briny depths, intent on settling the long-argued dispute of what our moral and ethical alignment actually is. Was our last album called Lawful Evil? Yes! Is this song called ‘Lawful Evil,’ but was not released on the album Lawful Evil? Also yes! Are we Lawful Evil, just a bunch of trolls, or something else entirely?”
