Invisible Oranges is now streaming Unhanded, the harrowing debut full-length from Denver’s THE MUNSENS. The crushing display of the trio’s blackened/doom sees release this Friday through Sailor Records, but Invisible Oranges is streaming the record early alongside a feature conducted with the outfit in their hometown in recent days. The LP comes following a productive 2018 Summer that included performances at Psycho Las Vegas, 71Grind IV, Austin Terror Fest, Electric Funeral Fest, and more.
Having carved out a place of their own in the much-lauded Denver metal scene over recent years, THE MUNSENS‘ debut LP Unhanded is a step in a new direction for the band, melding elements of the members’ early influences in punk, black metal, and hardcore. Offering a more complete representation of the outfit’s output from prior releases, Unhanded distinguishes THE MUNSENS as one of the more unique and enthralling bands on the metal touring circuit. Produced by the band, Unhanded delivers nearly forty minutes of music through five mammoth songs, the album engineered by Mike Moebius at Moonlight Mile Recording, mastered by Dennis Pleckham at Comatose Studio, and finished with photography by Michael Goodwin.
With their exclusive early stream of the LP, Invisible Oranges’ in-depth in-person interview with the band offers in part, “On Unhanded, THE MUNSENS have injected their rowdy yet deliberately leaden grooves with a mind-bending dose of experimentation, branching outward into suggestions of black metal, funeral doom, and even crust punk. For the first time in their discography, they have crafted a singular work that sprawls consummately across an electric range of genres, fully exploring concepts only hinted at on their previous material. Each track represents a decidedly unique journey down an untrodden path, with the band venturing out into remote spaces yet retaining a healthy sense of continuity throughout the whole of the album.”

Unhanded sees release through Sailor Records this Friday, February 15th on all digital platforms and vinyl formats, with both a standard black pressing as well as a limited run of 125 copies milky clear with black splatter. Find preorders at Bandcamp HERE.
Watch for an official video from the record and more to see release over the coming weeks as the band hits the Southwest US on tour through much of March and beyond in support of the album, leading with a hometown album release show on March 2nd. The tour then runs across the country’s midsection winding down to play at SXSW in Austin once again before hitting Mexico for one gig and wrapping up the tour in New Mexico on March 16th.
THE MUNSENS will also support Monolord at a hometown show on May 2nd, and shortly after they’ll travel to New Mexico to Monolith on the Mesa: A High Desert Rock & Art Experience where they’ll perform alongside Om, Dead Meadow, Wovenhand, The Obsessed, Eye, Wino, Pinkish Black, and may others.
