THE SKULL is a musical collaboration founded by three former members of American doom metal legends Trouble — vocalist Eric Wagner, bassist Ron Holzner, and drummer Jeff “Oly” Olson — and guitarist Lothar Keller (Sacred Dawn). Forged in 1979 and universally hailed as one of the pioneers of doom metal genre alongside the likes of Pentagram, Witchfinder General, Candlemass, and Saint Vitus, Trouble manifested a distinctly heavy style merging the influences of British heavy metal — Black Sabbath and Judas Priest — with 1970s psychedelic rock. The band’s first two albums — 1984’s Psalm 9 (hallowed in Decibel Magazine’s Hall Of Fame series and regarded as one of the most important doom albums ever) and 1985’s The Skull – are hailed as doom metal landmarks.
